19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also means he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
